Nova Scotia Environment’s role is to protect the environment, human health and farm animal welfare through regulatory excellence, conservation, partnership and promotion. To achieve this, we strive to develop legislation, regulations and policies, process notifications, applications, and approvals for regulated activities based on sound scientific knowledge and expertise.

As an expert in Farm Animal Welfare (FAW), you will provide specialized, professional, technical leadership and evaluation for farm animal welfare activities, standards, guides, protocol, legislation, and program advice under the mandated responsibilities in the NS Animal Protection Act.

To be successful within this role, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine is required as well as a current license to practice Veterinary Medicine in Nova Scotia (or eligible for license transfer to Nova Scotia). Post-graduate studies and experience in animal welfare issues and/ or herd health management is an asset. Knowledge and application of principles, objectives, and procedures of governmental planning and program delivery methodology would also be considered an asset.
Salary Range: $2,379.00 – $3,551.00 Bi-Weekly plus a temporary salary adjustment to the Veterinarian 2B of 15% bi-weekly (up to $519.62)
