Solo, small animal DVM-owned, full service hospital seeks a veterinary associate with potential for practice ownership, in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Moving to Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, could be the best decision you’ll ever make!  Annapolis Royal is a beautiful and welcoming waterfront community, with well-preserved historic sites dating back to the 1600s, vibrant forests and fresh lakes, and a quaint seaside lifestyle.  Our beautiful town has also gained a reputation as a vibrant center for cultural activity, and over the years has become a magnet for visual artists, craftspeople, musicians, and writers.  Annapolis Royal is a great community for families, with newer schools and lots of organized activities and festivals for children of all ages.  We are a perfect home-base for outdoor enthusiasts, whether your passions involve hiking, biking, boating, fishing, or strolling through our historic gardens and beautiful farmers’ market in the town square.

Within this thriving town sits Port Royal Animal Hospital, est.2004, an independently-owned, small animal practice.  Our work family team of 7, including 2 RVTs, 2 CSRs, 2 VAs, and 1 DVM, are a dedicated bunch (and highly skilled!) who love what we do and our work days are full and include lots of laughter.  Our team culture is that of communication, empathy, kindness in word and action, patience, teamwork, and community-mindedness.  We currently enjoy a Monday to Friday work week, with a ½ day on Wednesday.  With a second DVM, however, we may consider opening on Saturdays, and/or an evening, but only if staffing allowed.  Our hospital is full service, including emergency/afterhours.  We share afterhours on call coverage with another, local practice, and our large and loyal clientele are respectful of calling afterhours as required for emergencies only.

We have many devices to make our job easier (and WAY more fun), including computerized practice management software (Infinity), in-house lab (HESKA), Idexx ECG, Imagyst reader (fecals, cytology, blood smears), digital and dental radiography, Highdent Trio Plus Dental Unit, BP monitoring, Tonopen, LogiqE and C7VET ultrasounds, mobility stance analyzer, PRP treatment capabilities, and CTS-Duo 25 W Therapeutic Laser.

We are looking for an associate veterinarian to join our busy practice, in either a full- or part-time capacity.  We are open to a new or experienced practitioner, with mentoring and room to grow your skillset and professional interests.  Dr. Jody’s current passion is canine rehabilitation and is actively growing this aspect of practice offerings.  An associate who is also interested in practice ownership in the near future is also welcome, as Dr. Jody is open to selling the practice within the next 5-6 years, and is willing to offer seller financing, as well as providing occasional or regular relief after sale.  The practice is thriving and is set to exceed the 1 M in gross income this year, with 1 DVM working 3 full/2 half days a week.
