Full time Limited Term Academic position, teaching three Veterinary Technology courses for both Spring/Summer and Winter semesters, both in the classroom and clinical laboratories.

Pay rate: In accordance with the applicable Collective Agreement.
The successful applicant will teach practical labs (in person) in anatomy/physiology clinical exercises, and clinical pathology. The set up and clean up of these lab facilities is the responsibility of the lab instructor. The instructor is also responsible for ensuring necessary lab materials are in place or need to be ordered ahead of schedule.
Teaching classroom/lecture content could be either online or in a classroom setting. Some curriculum development or revision may be required and will be done under the direction of the primary instructor. The instructor is required to maintain their course(s) on the LMS system (BrightSpace).This instructor will perform all duties of a DVM including elective surgery of dog/cat in a teaching lab environment. Teaching clinical skills in a practical setting. This will also include evaluation of skills utilizing our standardized check-list. Although duties are expected to be carried out Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30pm. Evening labs may be required or clinical work may be necessary outside these hours.
Duties will be assigned and supervised by the program coordinator, Dr. Lori Parsons.
All instructors are required to attend weekly instructor meetings, clinical rounds, and other meetings as required by the Department of Animal Science and Aquaculture.
Requirements of Position:
Qualified candidates must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and be eligible or licensed to practice in Nova Scotia. If successful, the candidate must have their license to practice in place by the start date of the position. The successful candidate will also require at least 3 years experience in companion animal practice or equivalent with competency in elective surgeries for dogs and cats and all skills required of a companion animal veterinarian. Teaching experience is desirable.
