Weste Animal Hospital is an independent, five-doctor small animal practice on Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore, just 30 minutes from Halifax and Dartmouth. We're looking for an experienced, surgically minded veterinarian to cover a 12-month parental leave, with a possible path to permanent for the right person.
The role
A full small animal general practice caseload: wellness, medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery. Four days a week, 9 to 5, with some flexibility.
You bring
- DVM with 5+ years of small animal experience
- NSVMA licence, or eligibility
- Confidence working independently in appointments, diagnostics, and surgery
- An established interest in surgery
Bonus: advanced procedures such as complicated mass removals, mature and pyometra spays, cystotomies, GI surgery, splenectomies, gastropexies, and extractions.

- A dedicated RVT, assistant, and receptionist for each doctor
- Long-tenured RVTs who run tech appointments, anaesthesia, and diagnostics
- Collaborative DVM colleagues who are always happy to consult
- Digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, in-house Heska lab, full pharmacy, and dedicated dental and surgical suites
