About the Practice 

Cornwallis Veterinarians Ltd is a well-established, mixed animal Veterinary practice with two clinics located in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, NS, dedicated to providing high-quality care to pet owners, livestock producers and rural communities. Our Large Animal team offers comprehensive veterinary services for cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry, with a strong focus on herd health, preventive medicine, client relationships, and practical on-farm solutions. 

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate full-time Large Animal Veterinarian to join our growing practice. 

Position Summary 

The Large Animal Veterinarian will provide medical, surgical, reproductive, and preventive care services to a diverse large animal clientele. The successful candidate will work closely with producers and animal owners to support animal health, productivity, and welfare while contributing to a collaborative team environment.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Perform routine and emergency farm and ambulatory calls  

  • Diagnose and treat medical and surgical conditions in large animals  

  • Provide herd health and preventive medicine programs  

  • Conduct reproductive examinations and pregnancy testing  

  • Perform vaccinations, health certifications, and regulatory testing  

  • Offer nutritional, biosecurity, and management consultations  

  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment protocols  

  • Participate in shared after-hours emergency coverage  

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships  

Qualifications 

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine  

  • Eligibility for veterinary licensure in Nova Scotia. 

  • Experience or strong interest in large animal medicine  

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills  

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team  

  • Valid driver’s license  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with beef, dairy, poultry, or small ruminant practice  

  • Interest in herd health and production medicine  

  • Proficiency in reproductive and preventive care procedures  

  • Comfort with ambulatory practice and emergency services
